The Volunteer Voice Committee is interested in the point of view of volunteers and people who want to volunteer. We want to identify and eliminate the barriers to formal volunteerism, starting with the difficulty prospective volunteers have when they try to find volunteer opportunities, especially in rural areas and small towns. We're asking questions like: What resources already exist for finding opportunities? How can MAVA connect people back to existing resources? What research could be helpful? What can we learn from informal volunteerism? How can we elevate our profession and make a case for investing in volunteer engagement, with the aim of removing long-ingrained barriers?
