Maureen L. Bourgeois
VISTA and Office Manager
Maureen L. Bourgeois is MAVA's Vista and Office Manager. In this role, she manages MAVA's AmeriCorps VISTA program, provides clerical support to the executive director, and manages office and financial operations. Prior to joining the MAVA staff, Maureen coordinated and oversaw administrative aspects of the Certified Family Life Educator designation with the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR) the oldest nonprofit, nonpartisan, multidisciplinary professional association focused solely on family research, practice, and education. Through a variety of employment opportunities, and in her volunteer leadership role at the Basilica of Saint Mary, Maureen has had over 20 years of experience training and leading child and adult volunteers. Maureen has a passion for helping others develop interpersonal skills and works as a Standardized Patient/Client with the University of Minnesota and a Crisis Intervention Actor with the Barbara Schneider Foundation. Maureen has a Bachelor's degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities, and has supervised volunteers and volunteered within the Twin Cities performing arts community for several years.

Karmit Bulman is MAVA’s Executive Director. She has extensive experience running non-profit organizations and has a strong background of leadership in international, national and statewide coalition building. In the past Karmit has served as an attorney and as executive director for nonprofits. Her roles have involved financial management, program development, public and community relations, fund raising and oversight of organizational operations. She has a particular passion for facilitation of collaborative processes, conflict assessment, coalition building, executive coaching and consulting, new business development, organizational turnaround, and revenue expansion. Karmit oversees strategic planning, board development, financial management, fundraising, program development and day to day programming at MAVA.

Membership and Fund Development Director
Jenna Egan is MAVA’s Membership and Fund Development Director. In this role she builds relationships with new and current members, recruits volunteers, and cultivates financial donors and sponsors. Jenna has worked in higher education recruitment, program development, volunteer engagement, and communications for over 14 years. She has a Master’s in Educational Leadership from the Saint Mary's University of Minnesota. Before joining the MAVA staff, Jenna served as the Recruitment and Enrollment Manager for the University of Minnesota School of Public Health, and currently serves on the American Heart Association Gala Auction Committee.

Equity and Inclusion Program Manager
Lisa Joyslin joined MAVA in 2017 and is the Equity and Inclusion Manager. Her work is focused on learning how to address systemic inequities in volunteer engagement systems to better engage communities of color as volunteers at nonprofit and government organizations. Lisa has worked in the field of volunteer engagement for nearly 15 years. She spent four years as the Volunteer Services Officer for the American Red Cross Minnesota Region, and has held positions with Community Thread, Hands On Twin Cities, and Chicago Cares. Before joining the MAVA staff, Lisa was a volunteer trainer for MAVA’s Volunteer Impact Leadership Series and Cutting Edge Strategies trainings. She holds a Master of Public Policy degree from the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs.

MAVA’s AmeriCorps VISTA Leader
Brien Osborn is MAVA’s AmeriCorps VISTA Leader. In this role he coordinates recruitment of VISTA volunteers for host sites throughout Minnesota and supports those volunteers through their year of service. Brien was previously a VISTA volunteer working in youth development at the Brooklyn Bridge Alliance For Youth and then served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Peru. He has a Bachelors degree in Anthropology from the University of Minnesota.

Volunteer Generation Fund Program Manager
Polly Roach is MAVA’s Volunteer Generation Fund Program Manager, providing support for activities related to the Service Enterprise Initiative and others funded by the Volunteer Generation Fund. Prior to joining the MAVA staff in 2018, Polly served on the MAVA Board of Directors, where she chaired the Strategic Services Committee and was involved in shaping MAVA initiatives such as the Shifting Environment research. Polly received MAVA’s Mary Wiser Award for Leadership in the Field of Volunteer Resources in 2011. Previously, she worked at the Mentoring Partnership of Minnesota (now MENTOR Minnesota) as the Senior Director of Program Services, delivering resources, training and technical assistance to youth mentoring programs to strengthen their efforts to provide young people with high quality, long-lasting relationships. Prior to that position, she directed a one-to-one mentoring program for girls at the YWCA of St. Paul for 16 years. Polly holds a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Minnesota.

Wendy Roberts is MAVA's Training Manager. In this role, she manages MAVA's trainings, annual conference and the Professional Development and Conference Committees. Prior to joining the MAVA staff, Wendy served on MAVA's Inclusive Volunteerism Task Force and provided training around inclusive volunteer recruitment. She previously worked at Literacy Minnesota in a variety of adult student, volunteer and national service (AmeriCorps VISTA) outreach and recruitment roles. She most recently managed volunteer and adult learner outreach, coordinated support and professional development for volunteer coordinators and facilitated racial justice trainings for staff and volunteers at Adult Basic Education programs statewide as the Volunteer Outreach and Hotline Manager. Wendy holds a Master of Public and Nonprofit Administration from Metropolitan State University, and serves on the Antiracism Study Dialogue Circles (ASDIC) Metamorphosis Board of Directors and Marketing Committee.

Greater Minnesota Program Manager
Julie Vreeland is MAVA's Greater Minnesota Program Manager; she is responsible for working to expand and build capacity for Greater Minnesota nonprofits and government entities through excellence in volunteerism. She assesses needs and creates strategic partnerships while building capacity for volunteerism in Greater Minnesota. Julie comes to MAVA with over 30 years of non-profit experience, over 15 of those years in the Chamber of Commerce management field. Following her chamber career she continued to work for regional non-profit organizations including: Minnesota Technology and as the Non Profit Resource Specialist for Bremer Bank in Brainerd. Julie earned her IOM designation at the University of Colorado, Boulder, through the US Chamber of Commerce IOM Program. She received her undergraduate degree at St. Cloud State University and is a 2016 graduate of the University of St. Thomas Executive Director Leadership Program.
