Thank you for joining us for an incredible year! In 2021, more than 3,325 volunteer engagement leaders, AmeriCorps members, volunteers, interns and other employees working to advance volunteerism across the globe joined MAVA virtually for a variety of professional development and networking events. We enjoyed making new friends in the volunteerism field and seeing many familiar faces and names again.

In 2021, MAVA completed:

  • 6 Volunteer Impact Leadership Training Series led by volunteer engagement practitioners and awarded 101 participants a Volunteer Impact Leadership Certificate.

  • 10 workshops, including Antiracism 101, Equity in Rural Volunteerism, Engaging Volunteers in Skills-Based and Higher Responsibility Roles and more, engaging 217 participants.

  • 1 volunteer engagement check-in on Bringing Volunteers Back, engaging 48 participants.

  • 6 MAVA Connections on topics ranging from volunteer recognition during COVID-19 to Addressing Bias with Volunteers, engaging 122 participants. MAVA Connections are led by MAVA’s Professional Development Committee comprised of volunteer engagement practitioners.

  • 2 Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) and White Allies Affinity Groups for volunteer engagement leaders, engaging 36 participants. Affinity groups are also led by MAVA’s Professional Development Committee.

  • Two annual conferences, Volunteer Engagement Leadership Conference and Dismantling Inequities Conference, engaging 281 participants

  • 63 training and consultation contracts with partner organizations across the United States engaging more than 2,520 participants.

MAVA has already lined up more professional development and networking events for you in 2022.

  • We scheduled all of the 2022 Volunteer Impact Leadership Training Series on a quarterly basis and you can check out the full calendar on MAVA’s website

  • We’ll offer plenty more workshops throughout the year—and we’re bringing some of the most popular topics back—so be sure to keep an eye on our emails or website for all of the dates and registration.

  • The Professional Development Committee will continue to offer MAVA Connections and BIPOC and White Allies Affinity Groups, so you’ll have tons of opportunities to connect with others about a wide-range of topics. If you’re interested in facilitating or leading future MAVA Connections or affinity group meetings, consider joining the Professional Development Committee!

  • Please save the date for the HYBRID Volunteer Engagement Leadership Conference scheduled for June 8, 9, and 10, 2022, and consider sharing your volunteerism knowledge and experience with us there. The call for proposals is currently open until Friday, January 28.

  • Stay tuned for the Dismantling Inequities Conference date—set to take place again at the end of 2022.

  • We’d love to come to you! MAVA works with many nonprofits, schools, government, and community organizations to provide customized trainings and consultation services to help you take your volunteer engagement to the next level. A contract can be arranged with MAVA to provide in-house training and/or consultation for your staff and/or volunteers on a variety of topics. View MAVA’s training catalog and learn more.

Thank you for joining us in 2021 and we’re looking forward to seeing you again in 2022!
