In this September Issue of the MAVA Monthly you’ll learn how your voice has been activated as a MAVA member and Volunteer Engagement Professional following COVID. This issue also focuses on ways in which you can continue to elevate your voice to create meaningful and positive changes in your organization, as a volunteer engagement leader, and as a MAVA member.
Learn how the MAVA Membership Committee has activated your feedback and insight from the 2020 MAVA Membership Satisfaction Survey.
Hear from our Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) community members and volunteers on how we can co-create new systems that are rooted in equity when it comes to volunteerism and volunteer engagement leaders. MAVA has been conducting research and education on race equity in volunteerism for the past 5 years. Through our research we’ve learned that making small tweaks to problematic systems will not solve the issue of structural racism in volunteerism. MAVA conducted 8 listening sessions with a total of 40 participants. Listening sessions took place between November 2020 and March 2021 and were held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In this issue, you’ll be able to review the Executive Summary and download the full report (free to MAVA Members).
It's that time again - we need your input for the MAVA Trends Survey. We’re seeking YOUR voice to learn from and understand shifts in our profession and your volunteer engagement experiences during the pandemic, economic downturn, racial inequities and more! Please complete the MAVA’s 2021 Shifting Environment Survey
In this issue you’ll also discover how the MN Driver’s Coalition created a bill where volunteer drivers can receive mileage reimbursement income tax subtraction, you’ll learn how to activate your MAVA member voice with MAVA resources and tools, and so much more!
Happy fall and happy reading!
