VISTA Work in 2020

Maureen Bourgeois & Brien Osborn | Published on 1/7/2021

In 2020 the MAVA VISTA program saw the end of the 2019-20 cohort, the beginning of a full eleven member 2020-21 cohort, and the hiring of a new VISTA Program Manager. Our members serve at Second Harvest Heartland, Lutheran Social Services, YWCA Minneapolis, The Family Partnership, United Way of Freeborn County, Foundation For Essential Needs, Hennepin Healthcare and Volunteers Enlisted to Assist People. Almost all of our VISTA members will begin and end their year of service working virtually. Our VISTA members have been able to enter new organizations and apply their skills and talents during a time when volunteer programs are seeing a greater demand but lower volunteers. They are tasked with addressing poverty through a variety of methods including the management of volunteer projects and programs, the development of trainings, and the creation of more efficient systems. Alongside their communities and host organizations our VISTA members will continue the valuable work they started as they move into the new year.
