What is a hybrid conference?
MAVA's hybrid conference brings participants together in person and virtually - meaning YOU get to choose how to participate. Some sessions will be presented in person at at Mount Zion Temple in Minnesota and some sessions will be presented virtually by Zoom in Whova. In-person presentations will be recorded and broadcasted live to virtual participants and virtual presentations will be recorded and broadcasted live to in-person participants. All recorded sessions will be made available for participant viewing after the conference for 90 days. Never miss a moment of the conference - regardless of how or when you choose to participate!
What does the hybrid rate include?
Registering at the "hybrid" rate allows you to join us in person, virtually or a mix of both. Want to stop by in person on days 1 and 2, but join virtually on day 3 from home because Fridays are pajama pants or no shoes day? No problem! The hybrid rate also includes lunch on all three days of the conference.
What does the virtual only rate include?
Registering at the "virtual only" rate gives you full access to all conference presentations in a virtual-only format, and it means we won't see you in person on any of the three days.
Can I participate in person and virtually?
Yes! As long as you register at the "hybrid" rate, you can choose to attend the conference in person, virtually or a mix of both. Want to stop by in person on days 1 and 2, but join virtually on day 3 from home? No problem!
If I register at the hybrid rate and plan to mix it up by joining both in person and virtually, do I need to let MAVA know ahead of time?
No need to let us know ahead of time! But MAVA's training team calls first dibs on any unclaimed lunches.
If I register at the hybrid rate, will I still have access to the recordings?
Yes, all conference registrants -- regardless of how and when you participate -- will receive access to Whova. You will receive more information by email about how to access Whova when we get closer to the conference. You can come back shortly after the conference to view all recordings. Recordings will be available for 90 days from June 10th.
Where is the in-person venue?
We are hosting the in-person part of the conference at Mount Zion Temple located at 1300 Summit Avenue, Saint Paul, MN 55105. View Mount Zion's map and directions.
- Venue accessibility
The space is wheelchair accessible with an entry ramp and elevator.
- Parking
Mount Zion owns a parking lot with ample space on Summit Avenue and Syndicate Street next to Kowalski's Market. There is also limited street parking. View the map.
- Building entrance
The venue is closed to the public with controlled entry at all times during the three days of the conference. Please enter the building through the Summit Avenue entrance. All other entrances will be locked and not monitored. View the map.
- Concurrent session rooms
Concurrent sessions take place in Margolis Hall, Melamed Board Room, Johnson Social Hall and Sisterhood Lounge. Johnson Social Hall is on the second floor with stairs and an elevator. The ZaiKaner/Perwien Terrace is also available for those who would like to step outside for fresh air. View rooms.
What technology do I need to participate in person?
No need to worry about technology -- we've got it covered! We'll have a limited number of printed schedules and pens available. You can also download the Whova app on your smartphone to see the schedule and more information about the conference.
If you are a presenter, we'll communicate with you directly about your technology needs.
What technology do I need to participate virtually?
You'll need a computer, internet connection and audio. Many workshops are highly interactive and will require you to be able to view the PowerPoint slides, use your audio to listen and microphone to speak to others. Please plan to join us from a setting that allows you to engage and participate fully.
What is your COVID-19 health and safety plan?
We're taking steps to ensure COVID-19 remains off the guest list. Please carefully review MAVA's Health and Safety Requirements prior to joining the conference.
We continue to monitor the rapidly changing COVID-19 situation and follow public health recommendations. If we are unable to gather in person in June, the conference will continue in a virtual-only format. Those who registered at the hybrid rate will automatically receive a $75 credit by email toward the 2022 MAVA Dismantling Inequities Conference (date and time to be determined at a later time). This offer excludes the AmeriCorps Members and Volunteers rate as the AmeriCorps/Volunteer hybrid and virtual rates are the same price.
Are masks required at the conference?
Yes. Please carefully review MAVA's Health and Safety Requirements prior to joining the conference.

What is the deadline to register?
The deadline to register is Tuesday, May 31 in order for us to provide a final count to our venue manager and caterers in advance. We are unable to accept late registrations.
Can I pay for my registration in person at the conference?
Payment is due in advance by Tuesday, May 31. We are not able to accept walk-in registrations or payments. We ask that you please pay online by credit card or by mailing in a check to MAVA's office (970 Raymond Avenue, Suite G-70, Saint Paul, MN 55114) to prevent crowding and reduce time spent at the in-person registration table. MAVA is committed to ensuring its events are accessible to all participants.
