News for Administrators of Healthcare Volunteers

"Purpose, Passion, Pride . . . Volunteers Have It!" is the theme for the Minnesota Association of Health care Volunteers (MAHV) conference on September 12, 13, and 14 at the Minneapolis Marriott Northwest, in Brooklyn Park. This conference, specifically focused on health care, is open to both volunteer leaders (such as a board or advisory council) and the professional leader of the volunteer program. You do not need to be a member of MAHV to attend. Several AHV members have been involved in conference planning and will be presenters. The kick off session on September 12, from 5 – 8:00 p.m. is hosted by AHV and the Minnesota Health Care Gift Shop Association (MHCGSA).

This is a great opportunity to learn and network with other leaders from health care organizations. Registration materials can be found on the Minnesota Association of Healthcare Volunteers website: www.mahv.org. Register three people and a fourth person can attend free!

MAHV (formerly HCAM) is a statewide organization that has been serving Minnesota healthcare volunteers since 1946. Their mission is to provide their members with opportunities to share ideas, develop leadership skills, and promote volunteer services that support Minnesota’s Healthcare facilities. They have seven geographic regions throughout the state. They have connections to the Minnesota Hospital Association and Leading Age (long term care association). AHV works collaboratively with the Minnesota Association of Healthcare Volunteers (MAHV) to help provide education opportunities for volunteer coordinators.

If you lead the volunteer effort in any type of health care setting, AHV is here for you. If you have topics you would like to see addressed at a future AHV meeting, please let us know. As a MAVA member, you can use the AHV forum to pose or respond to questions from other AHV members. Check this out on the MAVA website. Also, be sure to mark AHV and healthcare on your personal profile.
Hope you have a great summer!
