Strategic Leadership Series: Everyday Leadership
This three-part leadership training series is designed for anyone who works with teams, whether staff or volunteers, and wants to strengthen their leadership skills. Participants may not hold formal management titles, but they play a vital role in guiding, influencing, and collaborating with others. Each one-hour session provides practical tools to develop leadership capacity through influencing upward, building trust, and engaging groups effectively.
Series-Level Outcomes:
By the end of the series, participants will:
• Strengthen their leadership by developing productive relationships with supervisors and organizational leaders.
• Build greater trust and credibility with colleagues, teams, and those they work with.
• Apply strengths-based approaches to leading groups and achieving shared goals.
Your registration will allow you to attend all three days in the series. Attending the Strategic Leadership Training Series can be counted toward obtaining or renewing your Certification in Volunteer Administration (CVA).
Day One - Monday, January 26, 2026
Part 1: Managing Up – Developing Leadership Through Stronger Relationships
Focus: Managing up is a leadership practice that helps participants work effectively with supervisors and organizational leaders. This session
emphasizes how developing these relationships can enhance leadership impact for yourself, your leaders, and the organization.
Key Outcomes:
• Understand managing up as a core leadership skill.
• Recognize how strong relationships with leaders enhance your effectiveness as a leader.
• Identify one practical step to strengthen partnership with a supervisor or leader.
Day Two - Monday, February 2, 2026
Part 2: Building Trust with CARE – Developing Leadership Through
Credibility
Focus: Trust is central to effective leadership. This session introduces the CARE model (Competent, Authentic, Reliable, Engaged) and shows how building trust strengthens participants’ ability to lead, influence, and inspire others.
Key Outcomes:
• Understand the four elements of CARE and their role in leadership credibility.
• Identify one personal strength and one growth area for building trust.
• Walk away with two strategies to demonstrate reliability and authenticity in daily leadership interactions.
Day Three - Monday, February 9, 2026
Part 3: Appreciative Inquiry – Leading Through Strengths-Based Engagement
Focus: Appreciative Inquiry (AI) is a leadership tool for guiding groups in
positive, strengths-focused ways. Participants will practice AI techniques to
foster collaboration, energize teams, and lead groups toward shared goals.
Key Outcomes:
• Understand how AI supports leadership by focusing on strengths
and possibilities.
• Practice one simple AI question or activity to use with a group.
• Gain confidence in leading groups toward collaborative solutions
and shared vision.
Training runs from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00a.m. (Central Time) each of the three days.
Adriane Lepage brings more than 15 years of experience in strategic planning, evaluation, volunteer engagement, leadership development, and facilitation across nonprofit and private sectors. Her career spans organizations from Google to Girl Scouts and includes extensive work in diversity, equity, inclusion, and access.
She holds a Master’s in Public Administration with an emphasis in nonprofit management from the University of Southern California, is a certified Strategic Visioning facilitator and Certified Volunteer Administrator, and was recognized with the 2021 Excellence in Volunteer Program Development Award from the Minnesota Alliance for Volunteer Advancement.
She lives in Stillwater with her husband and two children, where she also runs a successful sourdough microbakery out of her home kitchen.

Volunteers: Discounted rate applies to volunteers who give their time in the community and/or to a nonprofit or government organization in any volunteer role. The discounted rate does not include paid employees from nonprofit or government organizations that utilize volunteers or paid volunteer supervisors. 1.) the name of the organization where you volunteer and your volunteer role if you volunteer with a nonprofit or government organization or
2.) one sentence about how you volunteer in the community if you do not volunteer with an organization.
