Greater Minnesota Update

Julie Vreeland

With so many training programs already set up in Greater Minnesota it is going to be a great year to learn something new, meet new colleagues from around the state, and increase your awareness of volunteer needs.

We are starting March with a Skills-Based Training session in Little Falls on March 6. Special thanks to the Morrison County Volunteer Network for sponsoring this FREE training. On March 20-21 we are heading to LaCrosse, WI to do a Volunteer Impact Leadership Training Series. Thanks to the Coulee Region Volunteer Coordinators network for sponsoring this Series. If you are a member of their network you can receive a discount to the Series. We also have a Series set for April in Duluth on the 17 and 18. This Series is sponsored by the Head of the Lake United Way in Duluth.

We are still looking for a Series sponsor in the Alexandria area for September 2018. If your organization would be interested in hearing more about what this involves, please give me a call at 218-537-1792. This is also an opportunity to receive a fee as a sponsoring organization.

District Councils are starting to take shape. We are pleased to announce the Chairs for the Southeast and Central Councils. Bret Adler, Camp Victory in Rochester, MN will be chairing the Southeast Council and Jackelyn Bekius, with Fairview Northland Medical Center in Princeton, will be chairing the Central Council. We are looking for members in all areas of the state to join our councils. Each District Council would meet quarterly and report back to MAVA on shared training, ideas, and best practices. Please contact me at jvreeland@mavanetwork.org if you would like to serve on your District Council or would like additional information. I am also available to attend your next meeting to talk further about our District Council program.

For additional information or to register for any of these programs, check the MAVA website or contact me directly via email or at 218-537-1792.
