Location

Well known to Minnesota leaders of volunteers as the site of one of the longest-running courses on volunteer management in the country, Hamline is a private liberal arts university with a beautiful campus within the city of St. Paul. Download the Hamline University campus map.

Arriving

Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport

The Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport has fourteen major airlines that offer service. Ten are located in Terminal 1 (Lindberg) and four are located in Terminal 2 (Humphrey). Free light rail transportation connects the two terminals.

Taxi service is available at both terminals. Airport fares begin at $6.25 ($2.50 flag drop and $3.75 airport access fee) and are $2.50 for each mile. A taxi from the airport to Hamline University will be approximately $35 to $40.

Public transportation is available through Metro Transit which offers both light rail and bus service at the airport.

Amtrak and Greyhound

Both the Amtrak train and Greyhound bus arrive at the Union Depot building in St. Paul. A taxi from the Union Depot building to Hamline University will be approximately $25.

To use public transportation, board the green line light rail at the Union Depot station and take it to the Snelling Avenue stop. Transfer to the A line bus heading northbound and exit at the corner of Snelling Avenue and Hewitt Avenue. Depending on the time of day, the cost will be between $1.75 and $2.25.


Public Transportation

Metro Transit offers light rail and bus service throughout the Twin Cities metropolitan area. Visit their website to plan your trip. Fares are $1.75 during normal service and $2.25 during rush hours. Transfers are valid for 2.5 hours.

Uber and Lyft

If you prefer to not take a taxi, Uber and Lyft are available transportation options as well.

Check in
Check in starts on June 6th and check out will be mid-day on June 8th. Attendees will be able to pick up their keys for check in either at the conference check-in table or the lobby of the building they stay at.

Rooming options
Apartments: There are 70 single rooms in the apartment units. Each unit has two to four single rooms. All apartment units are air conditioned.

Residence hall: In the residence hall, there are 8 air-conditioned rooms single or double. Dorm room check in takes place on Wednesday and check out takes place on Friday.

Linens and towels are provided for your stay. Bathrooms are communal and you may want to bring shower shoes. Smoking and alcohol are not permitted within any meeting facility or residence hall at the Hamline University campus. 

Security
There is 24/7 conference staff on duty, the number will be provided to you via contract/ email and will be listed on the ID card holder. Hamline University will charge you $60 for each key (and proxy card) lost or not returned upon check out. Any key(s) returned after a person has departed the Hamline campus will not be credited.
