Mission: Inspiring excellence in the leadership of volunteers to impact communities.
Purpose: MAVA’s purpose is to impact positive change in our communities and the field of volunteerism. MAVA provides a forum to engage people involved in volunteerism across Minnesota to exchange information and ideas, and to link resources to build capacity.
Vision: MAVA is recognized for its ability to unleash the power of volunteerism in communities.
Impact for Members: Participation in MAVA elevates the awareness and value of our profession as well as improving the performance of volunteer managers. MAVA provides:
- Ongoing forum where members feel connected and represented
- Sharing professional expertise through networking opportunities
- Learning opportunities and resources to improve effectiveness of volunteer managers which results in increasing agency capacity.
Impact on the Field: MAVA actively experiments with innovative practices in volunteerism. We are committed to disseminating knowledge to the broader field.
Impact for Partnerships: MAVA and our partners receive and share resources, knowledge, and visibility to meet our respective missions. We foster a connection to each other that holds us accountable for the vitality of our community.
Goals for 2011 – 2013:
1. Advance and strengthen the voice for volunteerism in the state of Minnesota.
2. Position Minnesota on the cutting edge of volunteerism.
3. Increase engagement between MAVA and Greater Minnesota organizations & individuals.
4. Ensure MAVA has the capacity to meet its mission through developing strong internal systems and diverse funding to strengthen sustainability.
5. Maximize member enrollment in both the metro area and Greater Minnesota.
Goal 1: Advance and strengthen the voice for volunteerism in the state of Minnesota.
Objectives:
a) Develop key messages and public relationship protocol to establish and communicate MAVA as the primary voice for volunteerism in Minnesota.
b) Monitor policy and legislations related to volunteerism.
c) Develop partnerships and connections to advance MAVA’s role as the voice for volunteerism.
Goal 2: Position Minnesota on the cutting edge of volunteerism.
Objectives:
a) Monitor and contribute to research and the knowledge base on volunteerism.
b) Design MAVA initiatives to take key topics in the field to the next level of resources and training.
c) Maintain MAVA’s core ongoing workshops, conference and networking opportunities.
Goal 3: Increase engagement between MAVA and Greater Minnesota organizations & individuals.
Objectives:
a) Create Advisory Panel representing Greater Minnesota to give advice to MAVA Board, committees and staff on MAVA activities, membership strategies, trainings and goals.
b) Increase MAVA membership in Greater Minnesota.
c) Increase participation in programming in Greater Minnesota.
d) Increase Board presence in and from Greater Minnesota
Goal 4: Ensure MAVA has the capacity to meet its mission through developing strong internal systems and diverse funding to strengthen sustainability.
Objectives:
a) Implement a Human Resources Plan that positions MAVA to fulfill its mission and purpose.
b) Advance MAVA’s strategic financial planning and oversight. (Finance Committee, Fund Development Committee and Membership Committee)
c) Obtain diverse and sustainable funding for MAVA.
d) Create a process/strategy for developing and coordinating intentional MAVA programming.
Goal 5: Maximize member enrollment in both the metro area and Greater Minnesota.
Objectives:
a) Grow membership to 1,000 by 2013 and meet annual budget goals
b) Strengthen connections between geographic networks in Greater Minnesota and MAVA.
